Our customer is one of the world’s largest data bureaus specializing in credit reporting, risk management, and identity verification, serving financial institutions, insurers, retailers, and healthcare providers. The company launched a data unification strategy to modernize its technology infrastructure, improve speed to market, and drive competitive advantage while enhancing security and compliance and bringing added value to its consumers. The customer’s security and risk team oversees data security, compliance, and risk mitigation across the company’s technology infrastructure. It ensures that all IT systems, applications, and services operate within strict security and regulatory frameworks while supporting business scalability and improving performance.
The Challenges
The customer sought Softility’s Cloud solutions for migrating 70+ mission-critical on-prem applications to GCP within an accelerated timeframe. This modernization effort, including development, production, and database environments, was to achieve significant cost savings by eliminating reliance on physical data centers while ensuring compliance with company policies and aligning with its cloud DevSecOps automation platform. The company wanted a seamless migration to:

High Operational Costs: The customer’s legacy on-prem data centers incurred high maintenance, security, and infrastructure costs.

Diverse Technology Stack: Migrating 70+ mission-critical applications across multiple development, production, and databases required orchestration of cloud-native tools and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) to support the customer’s diverse technology stacks, while leveraging our customer’s pre-existing DevSecOps platform that Softility helped build and implement. Ensuring connectivity, security, and IaC while maintaining compliance with their internal DevSecOps framework required careful customization and integration.
- Alignment with a Unified Data Platform: All migrated applications and infrastructure had to seamlessly integrate into the unified data platform while maintaining governance and accessibility and required seamless cloud integration.
The Solution
Cloud Migration Strategy & Consulting: Softility conducted detailed dependency mapping and designed a hybrid Rehost (Lift & Shift) and Replatform approach for a flexible and efficient migration. We provided a comprehensive plan and roadmap for implementing a solution to accommodate the diverse needs of over 70 applications.
VM Migration: We executed a structured VM migration strategy, assessing existing VMs, identifying dependencies, minimizing disruption, leveraging GCP’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) capabilities, persistent disk storage, and networking optimizations for high performance while fine-tuning resources for efficiency.
Infrastructure and App Modernization: We helped the customer design and implement a scalable, secure GCP environment using IaC automation for cloud resource provisioning and streamlined deployments.
Automation, DevSecOps & Data Warehouse Modernization: We built automated pipelines on the company’s DevSecOps platform, ensuring seamless workload integration with new cloud-based data lakes with minimal downtime. We migrated databases to the cloud in alignment with the company’s centralized data platform.
Security and Compliance Alignment: We identified dependencies, risks, and security gaps while aligning the cloud resources in compliance with global regulatory standards. We implemented IAM policies, encryption, and governance controls to automatically meet the global regulatory standards.
