This large-scale transformation enabled our customer to seamlessly exit from highly regulated on-prem data centers in India and adopt a future-ready cloud ecosystem that unlocks core competence innovation and new non-financial market opportunities, while ensuring regulatory compliance, improved operational efficiency, and scalability.
The Customer
Our customer is a wholly owned Indian subsidiary of one of the world’s largest data bureaus specializing in credit reporting, risk management, and identity verification. Their technology services business unit in India oversees data, analytics, fraud prevention, identity verification, and digital onboarding solutions for the region. To comply with new Indian financial regulations, the company had to migrate mission-critical products and services from a highly regulated on-prem data center to Google Cloud Platform (GCP). This transformation was crucial to meet regulatory mandates and unlock new revenue streams by expanding services beyond the financial industry.
The Goal
This was a first-time cloud adoption for the core products designed to work from on-prem data centers, requiring significant modernization before migration. The company needed a secure, scalable, and fully automated cloud environment while ensuring that all security and compliance measures met Indian regulatory standards:

The Challenges
This modernization and migration effort involved 5 different environments, multiple designs to meet network requirements, several moving parts, patching challenges, amidst strict compliance and security constraints. Softility had to address several key challenges:

NCC-Based Architectures & Designs: The cloud migration effort required aligning security, data protection, and network architecture with National Cybersecurity Compliance (NCC) standards enforced by RBI, CERT-In, and SEBI. We had to integrate NCC-compliant security frameworks and redesign complex network topologies to fit cloud-native models.

First-Time Cloud Adoption for Core Products: The migration of highly regulated, on-prem products meant overcoming infrastructure provisioning obstacles and required significant transformation efforts, ensuring minimal downtime and operational continuity.

Transformation to Microservices & Infrastructure as Code (IaC): The legacy monolith products designed to work only on-prem required significant rearchitecting and refactoring into a microservices-based architecture to allow automated IaC deployments.

Cloud Migration Strategy & Consulting
Softility conducted detailed dependency mapping and designed a hybrid Rehost (Lift & Shift) and Replatform approach for a flexible and efficient migration. We provided a comprehensive plan and roadmap for implementing a solution to accommodate the diverse needs of the products and services, and their diverse applications.
VM Migration and Infrastructure Modernization across 5 Environments
We executed a structured VM migration strategy, assessing existing VMs, identifying dependencies, minimizing disruption, leveraging GCP’s Infrastructure-as-a-Service (IaaS) capabilities, persistent disk storage, and networking optimizations for high performance while fine-tuning resources for efficiency. We helped our customer design and implement a scalable, secure GCP environment using Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) automation for cloud resource provisioning and streamlined deployments. We have successfully migrated workloads across, including development, user acceptance, compliance, feasibility, and production environments while ensuring zero downtime. We redesigned the infrastructure for scalability, resilience, and cost efficiency on Indian networks.
DevSecOps Acceleration and Automation Management
We implemented automated pipelines on the company’s DevSecOps platform that we helped the company build, enabling self-service deployments, standardized release processes, and streamlined future product iterations. By implementing Infrastructure as Code (IaC) and automating provisioning, compliance enforcement, and security patching, we reduced release cycles by half and ensured seamless, scalable cloud operations. We helped our customer migrate and integrate the core products onto the company’s DevSecOps portal.
Database Management & Modernization
We ensured seamless workload integration with new cloud-based data lakes with minimal downtime. We migrated databases to the cloud in alignment with the company’s centralized data platform and optimized database migration and performance tuning to ensure minimal latency, high availability, and disaster recovery readiness.
Incident Management, Observability Solutions
We implemented centralized observability, alerting, ticketing, logging, and real-time monitoring using GCP-native and open-source solutions to track security events, app performance, and system health.
Security and Compliance Alignment, Secret Management Solutions
To achieve on-prem-equivalent Infosec compliance on GCP, we helped the company apply Infosec Policies and enforced cloud-native security controls and ensured that data protection, encryption, and access management met Indian financial regulatory standards. We deployed secure secrets management solutions to safeguard API keys, credentials, and sensitive data while maintaining operational efficiency.
To reduce security risks and ensure compliance across all environments, we implemented an automated patch management framework. We strengthened the customer’s security posture with zero-trust architecture, IAM policies, and continuous vulnerability assessments, and ensured regulatory compliance with Indian financial services mandates on data residency, access control, and encryption. We also helped the customer implement IAM policies, encryption, and governance controls to automatically meet global regulatory standards.
