Over the years the telco’s infrastructure grew exponentially, and so did the number of daily alerts reported on its legacy Netcool systems. In an event-driven environment, (not incident-driven), the exponential surge in events was affecting the ability to monitor and report incidents, and affecting overall MTTD-MTTR metrics.

With decades of experience working in the telco space, we helped the customer implement a robust event and network management solution to help reduce service assurance inefficiencies and take advantage of automation for greater efficiency and agility.
Softility enabled the telco to move from legacy Netcool products and versions to a new NOI-based monitoring platform to achieve a significant reduction of MTTD and MTTR metrics. The introduction of scope-based event grouping and correlation techniques helped our customer significantly reduce operational costs.
LEVERAGING AUTOMATION FOR IMPROVED RESPONSE & COMPLETE OBSERVABILITY
We conducted workshops, interviews, and detailed analysis sessions to define a roadmap for moving from an event-driven legacy process to an intelligent insights-based solution.
We helped the telco:
- migrate the current Netcool solution to a new NOI-based platform
- implement a grouping feature to help reduce average MTTD & MTTR metrics
Softility leveraged the customer’s data in deriving patterns and relationships that improved the overall correlation and quality of events.
Using industry best practices, Softility designed and rapidly rolled out a solution to monitor the network devices and servers, introducing the enhanced functionality of scope-based auto-grouping of alarms to effectively manage high event volumes hindering overall MTTD and MTTR metrics. Leveraging automation, Softility helped the customer make better predictions about the event categories and possible causes to automate the entire triage process of validating, diagnosis, and ticketing.
We distributed the architectural components across three functional layers – Collection, Aggregation, and Presentation. Two object servers were implemented to ensure scalability in accordance with the growing business infrastructure.
